March Update:

Just wanted to let you know that Kent and I met with our MLA, Brian Mason (NDP), on Friday afternoon and he was very upset about our situation and said he would try to set up a meeting with the Alberta Health Minister, Gene Zwozdesky, for Monday or Tuesday, to try and address this situation immediately.

Earlier Friday, I spoke on the phone with the researcher for the Liberal Party, in follow up to my phone call to Dr. David Swann (leader of the Liberals) and my message to Dr. Kevin Taft (Health Care Critic). The Liberal Party was intending to ask Zwozdesky a question in the legislature on Monday, and possibly request a meeting with Zwozdesky, to address this situation immediately.

In our meeting with Brian Mason, he said wanted to take the lead on our situation and have the Liberals support his efforts, as we are in his riding. Mason's assistant, Tyler, was going to phone the Liberal assistant, Ryan, after our meeting to set this up.

After hearing that we have preliminary grounds for our human rights complaint against Alberta Health and Wellness, and that Zwozdesky will not speak to us or about our case, Mason asked if we would be willing to drop the human rights complaint for now, if Zwozdesky committed to helping Kent and other brain tumour patients, until Avastin is approved by both the federal and provincial governments. We said that we would likely be open to this.

Just as any FYI, our MLA/Mason had copies of follow up emails that we had sent to him, but his office didn't appear to have our original email in their system. I fowarded my original email to them again Friday afternoon. Perhaps it got deleted by accident on their end, as I have a record that it was sent to them on January 5th. At any rate, in our meeting yesterday, I told them that I had sent an email to them on January 5th and they hadn't followed up with us. They were genuinely concerned about that and appeared to be doing everything in their power to address this situation asap. They also had a few emails from our friends in the file, so they were aware of our situation, in the broader sense.
